Prescription requests can be taken over the phone for shielding patients only. All other requests need to be posted, or via the online ordering process through our website. You may be asked to create a password to use this service.

Consultation is by appointment only. Please telephone before attending the surgery.
At the request of the GP's, the staff have been asked to gain some information about the need for an appointment.
Why does the receptionist need to ask why I need an appointment
It is not a case of the receptionists being nosey.
The reception staff are members of the practice team and it has been agreed they should ask patients “why they need to be seen”. Reception staff are trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure that you receive:
Receptionists are asked to collect brief information from patients:
To direct patients to see the nurse or other health professional
rather than a doctor where appropriate
Reception staff, like all members of the team, are bound by confidentiality rules.
Thank you for your support
In some cases, where appropriate, the reception staff will recommend that the patient visits a pharmacy, dentist or optician instead of making a GP appointment.

We will be unable to help you with a general query during emergency hours as we need to keep the phone line clear for emergencies only.
If you have a non urgent enquiry please call between the hours of 08:30 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00.
We also have an extended hours every other Wednesday from 07:30 - 08:10, please ask at reception or telephone for details.

Med 3/Fit notes
If employees are off work for 7 days or less, they do not need to give their employer a fit note or other proof of sickness from a medical professional. Their employer can ask them to confirm they’ve been off sick, this is called ‘self-certification’. The employer and employee will agree on how the employee should do this.
Fit notes and proof of sickness
Employees must give their employer a doctor’s ‘fit note’ (sometimes called a ‘sick note’) if they’ve been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.
Employees can get a fit note from a GP or hospital doctor. If their employer agrees, a similar document can be provided by a physiotherapist, podiatrist or occupational therapist instead.
Fit notes are free if the employee has been ill for more than 7 days when they ask for one. The doctor might charge a fee if they ask for the fit note earlier.
Employers can take a copy of the fit note however the employee should keep the original.
If a patient is very unwell and unfit to attend the surgery please phone to request a home visit. The reception staff will ask for some information about the problem so that visits can be prioritised. The Doctor will telephone to get further information if required. The Doctors do appreciate it if every effort is made to attend the surgery if at all possible.
This is enormously helpful to the Doctors and nurses and enables them to see many more patients.

The Surgery no longer provides routine ear syringe appointments. Kits and oils can be purchased for self administration, for advice and what to buy and how to administer please contact your local chemist.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
